Scottish Castles

Edinburgh Castle

At Euro Hostel you get your stay the way you want it: Your Euro Hostel is your castle. Well, here are a few others to see during your stay.

Edinburgh Castle
Each year approximately one million people come to witness this magnificent Scottish castle for themselves. And they are not disappointed.
Edinburgh castle was the seat (and regular refuge) of Scottish Kings. Today, the historical apartments, including the Great Hall, house an interesting collection of weapons and armour.
To make sure you don’t lose track of time in there, the One O'Clock Gun is fired from the ramparts above the city every day, except Sunday, at precisely 1.00pm. If you’re in Edinburgh you’ll hear it.

Craigmillar Castle
Craigmiller Castle lies just three miles south east of the centre of Edinburgh. Very little is known about the early history of Craigmillar Castle but it is one of the most complete preserved medieval castles in Scotland. History does tell us that sometime around the mid 14th century the lands passed into the hands of an important Scottish family, the Prestons, from a John or William de Capella. But who was Capella? A medieval monk? Possibly he had links with the previous owners, the Holy Trinity of Dunfermline? Find out more with a visit to this fabulous Scottish castle.
