European Championships Glasgow 2018
It’s no surprise that Glasgow – along with Berlin – has been chosen to host the European Championships for the very first time. Glasgow is considered one of the world’s top 5 sporting locations and with the event promising to be a new era in world sport – 2018 will be an extremely exciting one for the city. The 10-day prestigious event boasts a multi-sport programme of Aquatics, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon. Be part of history by getting your hands on tickets for this first time ever event which runs from 2nd-12th August.
The Championships have invested £750,000 in Scotland’s artists and cultural organisations, with Festival 2018 set to run alongside the sporting event. Find out more.

Football including the 2018 FIFA World Cup
We’d be surprised if you needed to be told that 2018 is the year of the FIFA World Cup. That’s right, it’s been four years since Brazil hosted the 20th World Cup and this year’s takes place in Russia from 14th June til the 15th July. It’ll be a summer of back-to-back football on the TVs of your favourite boozers, with England vs Tunisia kicking off at 19:00 on 18th June
If you’re joining us any time during the tournament, book a bench or booth in advance at our Mint & Lime Bar in Glasgow. We’ve got the Full Sky Sports and BT Sports Packages so you won’t miss any of the games and you’re guaranteed a great view, with multiple large screen TVs all around the bar.
The EFL Cup Final will kick off at 16:30 on 25th February 2018. Arsenal and Manchester City will meet in the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in a fight to get their hands on the first piece of silverware of the season. The FA Cup Final and Scottish Cup Final will take place on Saturday 19th May.
2018 Wimbledon Championships
Get the strawberries and cream at the ready, this year’s Wimbledon Championships will begin on 2nd July and end the on 15th. It’ll be two weeks of Pimms, British pride and nail-biting points. With Roger Federer breaking records at this year’s Australian Open to win his 20th Grand Slam title, 4 more than any other male tennis player in history – this promises to be a tournament filled with surprises.
Countdown to Carnoustie is on, with 147th The Open taking place from 15th-22nd July 2018. The historic championship golf course is based in Angus, Scotland and is considered one of the toughest golf destinations in the world, with Tiger Woods referring to it as “brutal”. He will return to Carnoustie this year with ambitions of a third Open Championship victory in Scotland.
Later on in the year, the Ryder Cup will take place in Paris from 25th-30th September.
Watch the Six Nations Championship matches live at all Euro Hostel bars from February 3rd til March 17th. Round one sees Wales vs Scotland go head to head and England will be hoping to become the first nation to win three times in a row after being victorious in both 2016 and 2017.
Gold Coast 2018
Also known at the Commonwealth Games, April will be packed with 12 days of competitive sporting events with athletes at the top of their game. There’ll be everything from gymnastics to cycling, swimming and table tennis. Comprising of 18 sports and 7 para-sports, over 6,600 athletes will take part from 70 Commonwealth nations. Held in Australia, sip on a Pina Colada in one of our bars and dream of the beach.
