Live Music in Edinburgh

During the summer, Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade undergoes a transformation to make it into a unique concert venue. Many huge artists have performed on the castle stage including Rod Stewart, Pink, Tom Jones, Paul Weller, Jessie J, Arcade Fire, Westlife, The Proclaimers, Bryan Ferry and Boyzone. Less than a 10 minute stroll from Euro Hostel Edinburgh the Castle towers over the Grassmarket and is the perfect place to hear some of the best acts. Distance from Hostel: 0.5 miles

A former mercantile building in Edinburgh’s original agricultural quarter situated just 2 miles to the South West of Edinburgh’s City Centre the Corn Exchange has a standing capacity for up to 2800 people. In the past it has hosted massive touring acts including Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Blur, Kate Nash, Charlatans and the Proclaimers. Distance from Hostel: 3 miles

QUEEN’S HALL

This converted church, built in 1823, was formerly called the Hope Chapel of Ease. It is now one of Edinburgh’s leading live music venues and also home to a number of the cities festivals which take place throughout. Just half a mile from the hostel you can walk to the Queen’s Hall in less than 15 minutes. Booked A Gig?

The Usher Hall is home to over 200 shows every year and is one of Edinburgh’s main venues for concerts and comedy acts like Scotland’s very own Billy Connolly. With standing room for 2800 people it has also been one of the main festival venues since the Edinburgh International Festival began in 1949. Public tours of the building also take place to show art works currently on display on loan from the City Art Centre’s Nationally Recognised collection. Distance from Hostel: 0.7 miles

Live Music in Edinburgh

Cabaret Voltaire is a hidden club and rock venue in Edinburgh’s Old town. Located in the cities cave-space in the caverns of the Cowgate it has low ceilings and an intimate atmosphere for hosting a broad mix of techno, underground dance, and drum ‘n’ base club nights as well as monthly bands and acoustic gigs.
