Anfield, Liverpool

Anfield Stadium is the 7th largest stadium in England with a capacity for 44,742 supporters. It is home to Liverpool F.C. and has been since they began in 1892. Prior to this Everton F.C. called the club home from 1884-1891 before moving to their now home of Goodison Park. The capacity of the stadium was greatly reduced when it became an all-seater stadium because of the Taylor Report in 1994. In 2014 construction began to extend the stadium which will increase capacity again to 54,000.

Goodison Park is one of the oldest purpose built football stadiums in the world and has been home to Everton F.C. since 1892 when the stadium was completed. Nicknamed “The Grand Old Lady” by Everton fans the stadium has a capacity of 39,572. As well as hosting Everton football games Goodison Park has also hosted an FA Cup Final and several international games in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Distance from Hostel: 2.5 miles

Echo Arena, Liverpool

Echo Arena has the capacity to hold 11,000 people and it located on the World Heritage Waterfront in Liverpool. As well as being used for concerts and music events the Arena also hosts snooker, boxing, darts, wrestling, dancing, cheerleading and gymnastics championships. Distance from Hostel: 0.8 miles

Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool

Aintree Racecourse is most famous for hosting the world-famous Grand National every spring. It is regarded as the most difficult of all courses to complete successfully, with 16 steeplechase fences. Unlike any other course in British National Hunt racing all fences except for the water jump are covered with spruce. Distance from Hostel: 5.2 miles

Royal Birkdale is one of the clubs in the Open Championship rotation and has hosted the men’s championship 9 times and the women’s championship 6 times. As well as the Open Championship Royal Birkdale has also hosted the Ryder Cup, the Walker Cup and the Curtis Cup. The club was founded as Birkdale Gold Club in 1889 and was awarded Royal status in 1951. Distance from Hostel: 17 miles
