Newcastle has a variety of different markets which run throughout the year at both indoor and outdoor venues. With something for everyone and a great way to see the city here’s a list of the best the city has to offer:
1. Armstrong Bridge Market
Each Sunday located on the Armstrong Bridge itself in Jesmond this market is packed with stalls adorned with art, furniture, jewellery and collector’s items to name just a few.
2. Newcastle Farmers’ Market
On the first Friday of each month right in the heart of Newcastle, the Farmers’ Market is the perfect platform for local farmers to showcase their fresh, organic produce including fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, sausages, fish, cheeses, bread and cakes. This market is a popular place for locals to pick up a bargain and has so much to offer.
3. Quayside Market
Held in the Quayside area of Newcastle the Quayside Market runs on a Sunday and has done for hundreds of years. The oldest market in the city boasts over 100 stalls selling vintage clothes, second-hand books, music, paintings, antiques, snack food, collectors’ items and general bric-a-brac. Always bustling with shoppers this one is not to be missed.
4. Tynemouth Flea Market
On Saturdays and Sundays why not head down to the Tynemouth Flea Market to pick up a bargain during your weekend. A popular market offering a wide range of items from books and paintings to ceramics, antiques and homeware plus much more.
5. Grainger Market
On Nelson Street in the city centre, Monday-Saturday the Grainger Market offers a huge choice of food stalls. This indoor market has fresh, local produce and confectionary as well a small shops located nearby.
